nothing fancy
I decided at very nearly the last moment here to throw my hat(s) into the Whiplash ring. Having cut my knitting teeth on hats, they're my cup of tea. My first hat was absolutely atrocious and, not having the heart to throw it away or the brains to just rip the thing apart and use the yarn to try again, I donated it to Goodwill so that I wouldn't have to look at it ever again. It was that bad. I've given many hats away since but it's never again been out of shame or disgust. I now consider hats fantastic knitting therapy and can usually whip one up in a few hours.
These two hats were created as a means to use up some Cascade 220 leftover from a felting project. I wanted to make something with a 1920s flapperish sort of feel, hence the felt and button flowers. The hats are nearly identical, knit with a picot edge in simple stockinette. The only difference is in the method of decreasing. The larger red (Trust me. It may not look red on your screen but it is red.) hat was knit using raglan decreases while the smaller coral-colored (again, you're just going to have to trust me) hat was knit using the more typical method of decreasing. I don't know that they'll win any prizes but the results, I think, are rather sweet. At least the models sure as hell are.

Beautiful hats (and models!). I do love me a picot edge :)

Love your hats (especially that swirly decrease look - I'm no knitter - can you tell?!)
And your lovely girls in their hats - my boys are forever pulling theirs off and misplacing them.

Love the hats. Love the idea of making them similar but changing the dec method. Both are beautiful. Haven't joined any whiplash. For some reason feel intimidated.
BTW - I'm struggling with the piles around the house too. I think what I really need is a good desk.
